Apparently when you tell one of the moderators of a forum to give data to prove their opinion they ban you instead of admitting they have nothing....
Oh well.
Long story short:
The mod and his friend came on a guy’s post about building a custom intake and made claims that Intake Modifications would have no effect on power/torque on the Pentastar engine, all we were doing way throwing money away to make more noise . He was an engineer so he understood these things better than most people.
I offered up multiple dyno runs and testing that proved him wrong.
He doubled down saying that the gains would only be seen under wide open throttle, so they would have no effect in real world use and posted a Govt article about testing of clean vs dirty air filters claiming it was proof.
I called him out on using said article on a discussion about intake modifications as it doesn’t apply, then asked him to please provide proof of his opinion.
At which I got banned and the 2 threads this went on in got deleted.

Reminds me of talented crew of the FP, instead they just shadowban as they lack the cojones to come out and say it. Never call out an entitled internet “expert”.

Do Internet bans follow you to other sites, like when you get impeached as the president of a neighborhood association?

Van people are very strong in their opinions.
Yes I know it is one of my faults as well.

Mod appointments are like political appointments. Competence to do the job is variable.

I was banned from mazda6club years ago for posting a link to a local car meet. My ban is for 1,000 years.

I got a month.
Once I’m able to post again I plan on making a post calling the mod out on it.
The forum has become a shitshow with him and his buddy in charge, so I don’t even care at this point. Make my point and hope to get banned for life.

Lets discuss this, Are you describing the modification you made to the filter/pipe before the throttle body or are you talking about modifying the actual intake manifold. Please post a link on what you are describing.....

In this instance it was intake mods like my resonator/flex delete or full cold air intakes. I would love to post links to show the shitshow, but he banned me and deleted the involved posts.
Previous instances had been headers, intake manifolds, big throttle bodies, etc.
According to the guy and his buddy , none of those things have any real world gains.

Well... I understood it was more responsive, was it at part throttle or at full?

I notice it a lot in normal driving, the usual lag of the Penta is almost non-existent and it has noticeably more punch in the 2-4k rpm range.
I will say I don’t notice any extra up top, but dyno runs of similar mods on the Penta show it helping most in the 2-4500 range, giving anywhere from 9-15 ft-lbs extra torque . It only tends to give 1-2hp in the top end, so what I’m feeling makes perfect sense, and honestly is exactly what I was hoping for.

So at part throttle. In otherwords, the cleaner path allows the air to accelerate more quickly in response to throttle changes. Remember if the airflow doesn’t change, neather does the power.

It’s hard because it is hard to understand what happens and where the benefit is. As an example, on a CFM basis no headers is the least restrictive exhaust system, right? But when you visualize that the airflow is pulsing and that there are scavenging affects, its not so clear.
So what could in theory make no difference in restriction like what you are doing might mighti ly reinforce a resonant charge affect as you are making a longer resonator that syncs with valve opening and closing.
The long point here is that intake systems are resonant and not continues flow, just like exhaust systems and if you don’t understand that, you make bad decisions. So for the guy who says it won’t help at anything but full throttle, he needs to think about it a bit more. I learned it the hard way by home brewing civic Del Sol VTEC exhausts that what is obvious is rarely the case,
